Civil Service Same Grade - Higher Scale

    Got word late yesterday evening that I have been successful in internal competition to get one of these elusive higher scales. Because it happened late in the day I didn't have a chance to run this question by anyone in work.

    Looking over the pay circular and unsure of some of the wording re pay points.

    Is it correct to say that you pick out the pay point closest to your current and go up two points from there? Amount is being backdated so trying to sus out lump sum and new pay..
