Hello, just wondering is there any nice quiet pubs in Dublin city that serve a nice carvery that won't be swamped with people early afternoon, preferably on the North side.

    Thanks.

Gravediggers doesn't do carvery. Sandwiches and small plates.

Most places are not busy weekday afternoons in autumn-spring, except maybe around Christmas. The Parnell Heritage Pub / Parnell Mooney as-was wasn't even that busy coming up to Christmas the last proper pub opening one we had, and although its also not carvery its fairly traditional Irish pub food.

Forgot to say - quiet and good carvery are mutually exclusive unfortunately. A quiet pub won't shift enough plates, so the roasts will be dried out, the veg and spuds soggy etc from sitting there under the lights and in the pans. Some of the better carveries are the ones that are firing out ridiculous amounts, the Coachmans (out beyond the Airport - not a useful suggestion here!) comes to mind.

Yeah, hard to find a good carvery that isn’t busy, mainly for the reason mentioned above. Not sure if it’s only on Sundays…as that’s when I was there…but The Bell out in Blanchardstown does a decent carvery and it wasn’t overly packed.

Cumiskeys on black horse ave do a nice carvery but alas, usually quite busy.

    The Coachmans grub is great.

Coachman’s has been the best carvery in Dublin for aeons.

Ill second Cummiskeys too as that’s great and the nearby Halfway house too.
