Hopefully someone maybe able to shed some light on this one!

Ive a VW ID 3 in a main dealer waiting for a Gateway control unit due to some errors.

Been there three weeks now and there’s no stock of the part in the UK or Germany.

The dealer doesn’t have a delivery date for the part either, and hasn’t for the past three weeks.

Anyone with experience of the industry able to give me an idea of how long a part like this may take to get from the manufacturer?

It literally could arrive tomorrow or be another 3 months depending on availability, certain parts have a backlog at the moment

Ring around a few other main dealers yourself, see if it something they have in. I had the same issue with a tow bar for a Skoda. Main Dealer said none in the country and would be months to get in. Rang another couple of dealers and one had one in the garage available to buy.

I was looking for a part from Toyota before and my local dealer didn't have it but was able to tell me on the phone that they could see on the system that a dealer in Kilkenny had one in stock. I assume other dealers have a similar stock control system?

I would be shocked if a dealer just had that part in stock.

You’d be right they don’t. But I’m trying to figure out some time frame of how long it might take 😅

You'd think, but for us they could not find a dealer with one. Skoda Ireland couldn't even say there was one in the country. It was up to is to ring around to get it.

The problem with some parts and particular like the part the poster is waiting for is it is not made by VW, It could be a bosch or continental part and VW are waiting on it to be produced or delivered to them, working in the trade and some parts are a nightmare at the moment, waiting on part since February in my job!
