Hi, I have a huge sun room which I dismantled at the weekend. It was 6 x 4m. So I have a garden full of windows/glass/etc.

The amount of PVC from the room is a lot, just wondering can this be recycled at all or is it a case of just hiring a skip and throwing it all away?

Plus all the glass, not sure if anything can be done

Put it up on Done Deal or a freebie site.

I have had multiple warnings from people not to, mostly because the people coming to collect might end up coming back to collect other items another day!! :-)

    OK I understand your concern.

    Maybe contact local men's shed.

If you use Adverts, you can check the reputation of the person before you reach agreement.

on the Freebie you have loads of accounts now who are just using the free section, when you check history thye have never sold anything on the website but have loads of positive reviews :-)

Plus before when I put up something one person was messing around, then another account put up to take....when I checked into the new person, it was the same person who had multiple accounts.....

I love adverts but the free stuff section is the wild west

It’s the same people in all sections of adverts. You can check their history before you decide to give them the free stuff.

I give away a huge amount of freebies on adverts, never have an issue, I just make it known in the advert that it’s first collected gets it, not the first person who makes the offer and i accept offers, PM my phone number and ask them to text me and I’ll supply their eircode.

Also plenty of Freecycle sites on Facebook. You could also sell it on DoneDeal or Facebook Marketplace. It'd be a crying shame to send it to landfill— it'll be useful to someone who'll be grateful to get it for free or a small fraction of the price new.

In the end I put into the local area community group, the majority of the glass was taken so far to be used as green houses etc so at least not getting fired into a skip.....

A great alternative to adverts/donedeal FYI

    Good to see it reused.
