Administrative Officer in Oireachtas

    Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone could advise me on what it is like working in the House of Oireachtas as an Administrative Officer. I am thinking of changing my career and moving to Dublin for the role, so rent, work intensity, and being able to work remotely from the other side of the country are my biggest concerns.

I am quite anxious about this decision as I am in my 40s and will be leaving a customer service job of 9 years for this so any insights would be appreciated. My current salary is 27k but I have very low living expenses and there is a lot of bullying in my current job so I am looking for a change.

I really appreciate any insights anyone can provide.

I've never worked there, but I understand that people working in the Oireachtas may have their working hours changed at short notice (if the house runs long, etc.)

The mobility role descriptions mention it -

I do know someone who used to work in the Oireachtas, and she enjoyed it but that was pre-Covid (and possible blended working options).
