Advice on irons.

I am in my late 60's, handicap mid 20's and my irons are more than 30 years old.

I have a jigger that I can do wonders with - and I've suddenly realised that it's head is much heavier than the heads on my irons. My iron play is shockingly poor and I now feel that I need much heavier heads.

Basically, I need advice about the difference between graphite and stainless steel shafts etc..

Anything else that I should take into account. The only thing I know is that my existing irons are really light.

    Appreciate any advice.

Get fitted is the obvious advice. If your clubs are 30 years old there's definitely room for improvement there. The modern irons should go further and be more forgiving. And in addition to that - if you don't think your current ones suit you that's a second reason to go.

Fittings don't have to be crazy expensive. Set a budget and talk to a shop or two. Even a shop letting you try a couple of second hand sets could be a huge difference.

I got fitted in Foregolf, ended up with graphite shafts

My 7 iron went from 120-125 in summer to 145-155

My shafts were way too heavy for me and was causing an over the top swing
