My inside stop valve under my sink doesn’t seem to fully close so needs replacing. I don’t have an outside stop valve or meter. If I contact Irish Water, will they install an outside stop valve? I assume they will also install a meter as I don’t have one. Is there a catch?

Not really knowing about your property age, or location, all I can say is that it is very unusual that there would be no outside stop valve.

Did you build your house or buy it? The stop tap would be a brass stop cock usually located outside the boundary wall possibly near the entrance.

It could be a case that it has been covered over.

I was involved in the connection survey prior to the metering, and the percentage of stop taps we couldn't find was very low.

If you cant find it, ring Irish Water, I don't know what the likelihood of them installing a meter will be.

They would probably have to try and trace your service pipe back out toward the watermain, and if they can do this then they would install a meter just outside your property.
