Hi all, I'm in a bit of bother. Last week on Monday the 7th. I was driving my car when I came up on a flooded section of road. I stopped just short of the water and waited. I could see two cars with their lights on coming towards me opposite direction and I was waiting for them to pass or turn around to judge how deep the water was and if I wanted to Continue. The first car was a big SUV and he came flying, hit the water going very fast. It created a little minnie wave that struck the front of my car and nearly took the front reg plate off. My car instantly shut off. I tried to restart is and almost succeeded by I could spell burning electronics and stopped. I waited a few minutes and tried again...nothing. You can hear the starter click but nothing else happens. I checked on the roadside, my air filter, the bottom of it was wet but there wasn't any standing water in the air filter housing. I also checked the oil. Now it was dark and hard to see but it didn't appear that any water was in the oil. I got a lift home, got an old air filter that I had changed out of the car not long ago, came back and changed the air filters. Still nothing, only a clicking starter. It is quit possible that, since it has sat now for over a week, all its needs is a new starter and maybe an oil change just to be safe and she will run. But, I can get anybody to even look at my car. I had my insurance breakdown assistance take my car to a garage in Tralee that I had used in the past and though their prices were fair. It has been 1 full week now and they have not even looked at my car. I called and tried to explain that I needed my car for work and I was polite but he got angry with me and kept telling me he was busy and he would get to it when he got to it. I starting calling around yesterday and today and everyone is stilling me that it will be 3 weeks minimum before anyone can even look at my car. I am willing to get it toed to another garage but I don't want to do that if I am just going to have the same problem...everyone keeps telling me they are to busy.

Can anyone recommend a garage in the Tralee area who might be willing and able to help me? I can be without a car for a month when noone has even looked at it yet..and what if it is not just the starter? What if Water did get in the intake? Am I supposed to let my car sit there for three for 4 weeks with water in the engine?

I'm getting very frustraited with the whole thing and am in need of some help. Can anybody recommend someone or work at a garage themselves who could help me? I don't want to end up at the garage of a scam artist that is going to charge me a fortune for nothing but at the same time, I need my car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check with your insurance company to see if you are entitled to a courtesy/loan car?

If you are, the insurance company will get things moving fairly quick as they won't

want to pay for a hire car.

Thanks for your suggestion. I just rang my insurance company and they basically said there was nothing they could do, unless I want to file a claim and then..good by no claims discount. They are going to try contacting a few garages on my behalf and see if they can help that way but other than that, no rental car or anything else. I am going to try to contact the Toyota dealership tomorrow, since my Car in a Lexus and see if they will have a look at it or at least maybe give me a lender car while I wait. The current garage won't even give me a lender car.

Thanks for the tip. I had my car moved to the Toyota dealership in Tralee. It is at least booked in to be looked at Tuesday Morning. I asked about getting a loaner car and was originally told no, that I could rent one from the. But the second person I spoke with when I met the wrecker there with my Car talked like their might be something they could do once they have a look at the car and saw what needed to be done. I have borrowed a van from work over the weekend so at least I could go to the shop and have a way to get back to work tomorrow morning. I have only ever had a car in a garage for a big job once before and I had no trouble getting a lender car and had no trouble getting someone to look at it either. Not sure what is going on in Tralee at the moment. I actually live closer to Castleisland than Tralee but the breakdown happened in Tralee so that is where my breakdown service wanted to take it. I will keep Walsh's in mind should I need to move it again.
