Anyone go to Serbia and Bosnia what way did you fly to Belgrade from Dublin. How many days would I need for two countries?

Yes, been to both a few times. I flew into Zadar once, Dubrovnik once, and came up from the south a few times. Looking on Skyscanner there doesn't seem to be any quick way to get to Belgrade. You could start in Dubrovnik and go up from there?

Hard to say how many days without knowing how much time you have / how much you want to see. I'd def say a few days in Mostar anyway. Few in Sarajevo, few in Belgrade. Montenegro and Albania are also wonderful if you have the time.

I flew Dublin - Frankfurt - Belgrade. Don't think there are direct flights. I think that's the case with a few of the Balkan countries. When I went to Bosnia I took a bus from Croatia.

I had some time to kill in Poland so rented a car and drive down into Serbia. Absolutely loved it. There’s a LOT of Hungary to explore on the way and the driving is easy and straightforward. It’s a roundabout way to get there but consider flying into a cheap airport and driving in (not as far as I did maybe!) I found the people nice, with interesting things to be seen everywhere. Prices reasonable, and sites of historical interest EVERYWHERE!

You can spend as long as you want, remember they aren’t small countries so you could restrict yourself to a city if on a time budget or a longer trip involving exploration.

My advice would be to fly into Budapest and take the train from there to Novi Sad (north Serbia) or all the way to Belgrade. It's a long journey so take the night train.

Then do Belgrade and down into Bosnia (Sarajevo and Mostar) and fly out from Dubrovnik or Split in Croatia. Great countires and relatively easy to travel around by bus/train.

When would be the best time of the year to do a trip like this and how long would you need to take off work?

Early summer would be ideal, I have been in May before and accommodation has been cheap before the summer season.

I'd take 2 weeks to work your way through. Depends on whether you want to see any of Croatia as well or just want to to fly home from there.

I done the Balkans in September, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Montenegro. Flew in to Zadar and out off Dubrovnik. We only spent 4 days in Bosnia but I would have spent more if we had the time. You would need 3-4 days Mostar and do day trips to Blagaj, Medjugorje and Kravic Waterfalls. 3 Days in Sarajevo and do a day trip to Pocitelj
