strange sound when moving off cx5

    Hi,

I'm looking to buy Mazda cx-5 and during the test drive I could hear this hooving sound when moving off. The sound goes away but is also present when reversing (possibly at very low speeds only)

The seller says it's the breaks after the staff spraying something and it will wear off quickly. Is it possible to hear such sounds coming from breaks while not using them (this happens when releasing the clutch and accelerating at the same time - moving off)? If it could indicate other issues, what could be the eventual cost to fix it?

Can't listen to the link, all I can say is seller is talking shite, never heard of "spraying" brakes apart from brake cleaner which evaporates in seconds.

Personally, I'd move on and look elsewhere based on that alone.

Also just from experiences I've heard from people that I know, along with complaints on this forum, stay away from Mazda Skyactiv Diesels.

Just tell the seller to come back to you when whatever he thinks is making the noise has worn off.

Thank you for your suggestions. The seller as promised fixed the weird noise. I also had a mechanic to take a look at the car. He personally doesn't like Mazdas but he didn't have anything bad to say about this particular car so I went ahead and bought it. The sound hasn't come back and for now I love the vehicle! Hopefully everything is good with this one, or else I'll be frequent user of this forum 🙈

    It's 2018 2.2 diesel D 2WD 150ps

Any major issues with it? I'm hearing mixed reviews...
