Hi I was wondering, is it an automatic fail to not have staff experience when going for the HEO. I've managed people in jobs before joining the civil service and helped new members of unit I'm in currently in but I don't have actual staff logged to me.

experience isn't limited to the civil service, so you can and definitely should use that experience

This absolutely. Experience outside the Civil Service is 100% valued and relevant. It brings another perspective and most good senior managers would agree, there are many similarities and many people join the CS from private at higher levels than HEO.

    What is HEO?

    High Earth Orbit?

    High Earning Oaf?
