Out earlier this week, I don't think I've seen much of the promotional material for this but I did hear of it.

I'm assuming it's a different story per episode type anthology.

    Wiki says:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_of_the_Jedi_(TV_series)

Each episode of Tales of the Jedi tells a short story featuring Jedi from the Star Wars prequel trilogy era

I've not watched the trailer and, with one episode down, going in without a trailer has felt like the right idea.

Trailer for anyone who wants it though:

Tales Of The Jedi | Official Trailer | Disney Plus

Episode 1: Wow! I was impressed early and often in this. First the level of detail in the sound and animation was very strong. A lot of Japanese Anime level strenght I thought. Then the story was well thought out and delivered just right. It reminded me a bit of ..

    The opening of Captain Fantastic.

Cool to see Ahsoka in her early youth and her early getting in touch/tune with the force. That scene in the middle of the forrest where the connected. The artisticness of it was just like.. really good!

Since I hadn't looked into the show beforehand, then the credits rolled up and I was like "Filoni!! Of course it's Filoni!"

Ahsoka, the wild, the bonding with an animal. Those should have been clear Filoni signs for me! 🙂

2: Wow! That was a great little short story. Really got me into the feel of it very fast. I made a guess at who the Jedi were and know I got one right.

I had thought maybe the master was Dooku. I had a lesser guess that the younger one was Qui-Gon. Was surprised I got the younger right. I don't think they revealed who the master was..

Anyway, top story. I really felt for the villagers.

Surprising how fast they built that up.

I think the music had something to do with it. Really set the scene.

3: Oh yeah, this is the good stuff! I am guessing another pitch by Filoni. Similar to the Clone Wars .. with a look at the Universe from a different angle than previously shown.

This one definitely putting in some background I don't remember seeing explored.

Aha! I knew it was Dooku!!! Just the way he acted and his voice a bit. When I saw the ship at the start too, I was guessing it might be the same two from the last episode but looks like this was set after Qui-Gon moved up to full Jedi.

I like this idea of being presented with the world Dooku experienced before turning to the dark side. He's definitely carrying an air of anger about him the whole time. Feels like he's keeping it all bottled up. Even looked like Windu might have noticed it at the funeral ceremony.

4: I did have a guess of the direction this episode would take when it started with the title reveal, "The Sith Lord". It was done well I thought. Reminded me most of The Clones Wars so far.

Sidious looking like he did in Clone Wars and voiced by Ian McDiarmid.

The majority of the episodes so far seem to be about Dooku. I wonder if they will have a link between him and Ahsoka.

Good music again. At one point very Blade Runner 2049 feel to it.

Flying over to the dark side meetup place. Felt a bit like the fly in to the polluted area in LA in Blade Runner 2049.

5: Enjoyed this. Felt like a proper filler-inner. More Ahsoka and..

building her bond with Anakin and also leading into the order 66 episode of the clone wars.

I guess she had to learn how to take some licks somewhere.

and Finished! That was a solid six short stories. Well presented. Though I'm debating the name. It probably could have been..

Tales of Two Jedi. Those being Ahsoka and Dooku.

but that might have been a bit spoilery

6: That was cool. Almost felt like a lead-in to Andor.

Ahsoka was going to have to become Fulcrum somehow. This looks like the start of that journey.

Before leaving it behind. I checked the wiki for who did the music.. Kevin Kiner who covered The Clone Wars and Rebels. Makes sense. The music felt similar. Especially when things got into deep meaningful moments.

Really enjoyed it myself. Makes me wish that Lucas had centered Dooku in the prequels from the get go. His character has a lot of depth to him, and his quite justified criticism of the Jedi would've echoed well with Anakin.

There's an idea in my head that a first-go Star Wars watch could be done differently than starting 4-7 and these would definitely fit in there. Especially the Dooku parts.
