Noise Levels - National Road and Previously built dwelling

Would anyone know if there is any provision anywhere setting up limits for road noise levels? the house was built at least 20 years ago when obviously traffic levels would have been way lower than today, and obviously one cannot move the house away from the road, so is there anything that can be done, are there any…
