im going to change the shear grab, looking at a 150 or 175 models, what would be yere recommendations for brands?

Have a redrock 4 years and can't fault it, is it going on a tractor or loader, fair bit of weight in them.

That's what I have, it was bought in 05 and still going strong, the only problem is no dealer around has them

It's going on a 6s Massey, I been told it would be able for that size, can you remember the price difference between redrock and similar competitors

It was a nice bit dearer than a Wylie or Johnston, but the dealer I bought it of wouldn't be known for being cheap, think it was about 4k or a little along with it.

Saw prodig at the ploughing this year and they were about 500 dearer than what I paid at the time.

I had a Johnston for a while and definitely wouldn’t recommend them, absolutely broke my heart trying to get it to cut clean.

Have a 6"6 from jj mahoney Bantry, came in a couple hundred cheaper than equivalent redrock. Heavy grab have a artic loader for it and blade pivots at the height of the brackets, just saying as its worth shopping around alright

We have a Johnston 4 ft 6 8 or 9 years and could be more.cuts grand edge twice a year and she d handle alot of silage

Tried it both ways, no luck. I’ve gone all bales since my main issue with them are keeping the birds off them..

New Johnson here this year replacing an old Johnson that done 27 years. Could never fault the old one but have never used anything else either. Also priced an NC but it was 600 or 700 more

just a update on the grab, it came down to quicke and redrock, i went for the quicke because it was a 1000 cheaper

5 ft grab on a 6715 here

definitely able for it but would reckon it’s slower loader hydraulics than the loader on our 5712

Hi neighbour has a 4 ft johnson shear for sale. How would it work on a manitou628. Would it be too small for the manitou

I think it would be ok, the big ones all crack in the middle according to our local welder. Might be a bit awkward to drop a grab in close enough to their heads in a narrow feed passage but you could work around that easily enough. Drop the block and then push it in closer.

Measure the headstock though, you could be tight there or have to get brackets made for the grab.

Too small imo. Have. 4’6 on a tractor loader and starting to think it’s too small. Would a Small grab like that not be a waste on a manitou?

Dunno what size of a machine the manitou is but would go for as big as it can handle personally, makes feeding out a but faster. Have a 6'6 here with 3 rams
