Career prospects with further study in strategic management

    A few weeks ago on a whim, I noticed an ad for fully funded upskilling courses (not Springboard), so applied, almost half heartedly, for a place in Effective Strategic Management in Business and the Public Sector. Out of the blue, I recieve a call yesterday saying I've been successful. Once I begin, the (remote learning) course requires 14-16 hours of study over 6 months. So while the cost will be covered, I'll obviously have to commit a good deal of time, which will be a challenge with two young kids.

    My current role in a semi state is very technical/niche, and really requires my superior to depart their role for me to progress. I had been hoping to try pivot or progress away from the specialism and industry for the last few years, but life (two under two!) has got in the way.

    My worry here is that the course wont really help me either progress or pivot from the role, and at worst, looks like a desperate attempt to 'buy' progression. Would anyone have an insight into how useful the content (even superficially) might be for my career?
