    Hi,

I moved from Vodafone to Pure Telecom, 500mb fibre. Was just a price decision. 6 months in and all is ok.

Pure is basically a Eircom reseller, the router supplied from Pure was a re-badged Eircom unit.

Moved to them 12 months ago on the 500gb deal. A pleasure to deal with and has been rock solid (siro) for 12 months. Unlike my previous provider via cable where we had outages once a month. So impressed I got my elderly parents to swap.

    Nightmare begins......

Box shows up (the eircom rebadged Huawei) dead nothing. Over a week to replace

Box 2 shows up ...This one has lights !....but no broadband .....another week

Demanded a Fritzbox which is why I had with my deal ....ANOTHER WEEK...but it worked

Yayyy it works ...but no landline

Now they had internet as for some reason they're vodafone router still worked but were without a landline for nearly 5 weeks. They are of the age where the landline is what they mainly use. To add to the misery they got double billed for the 1st month by voda and pure who then engaged in finger pointing blaming each other ....and eircom for the slow phone port.

Now I would saty with them but they will only extend the €35 for 6 months then its €60. I'm dreading telling my folks its time to move again

So I've had both experiences YMMV

Thanks for replies lads. Was promised a Fritzbox. Will have to think about it. Am with Virgin media, but almost any channel we watch are free to air.

In fairness though their customer care is miles better. I'm with them 2 years and the 2 issues I've had in that time were fixed quite quickly

Telecom Eireann insists on everyone who calls up with a problem to be waiting on hold for at least 20 mins but if you are trying to sign up they can answer straight away
