    Hi

The water shut off valve under the kitchen sink is seized in the open position..

I want to turn it off but it won't budge.. I've given it a few taps back an forth but no movement..

Would wd40 help to free it up..

    Thanks.

Probably not but no harm trying. How much access do you have to the tap? Can you easily get hold of the pipes going to it? Can you turn the water off outside? I'm thinking about how easy it would be to replace.

A picture would indicate what type of tap it was. Mostly when they get like that they need replacing but sometimes you can replace the the moving parts as an easy option.

Wake me up when it's all over.

+1 on just replacing, assuming you can get at the water meter or external valve. It should be a simple like for like replacement (though I would personally switch to a lever type valve)
