Anyone out there using LNG as a fuel for central heating boiler…..? Have an oil burner that needs replacing and don’t have access to natural gas where I’m located. House is old and porous/draughty so A2W heat pump not going to work too well…..there is also the HVO option…..will this ever become a properly viable alternative to oil/gas etc. Would be interested to hear any opinions…?

It would be extremely rare. LNG needs to be pressurised to something crazy like 200 bar, though that hasn't stopped it catching on for use in cars in some places.

LPG is kind of popular stayed in a few places that had it, they put in a "free" boiler & tank and then they fleece you big time

Oil prices are going down at the minute.

It would make more sense to insulate the easy parts such as attic.

Was old oil boiler condensing as in does while smoke (steam) come out. They are maybe 10% more efficient.

Do you have zones, timers, wall thermostats, radiator temperature controlled valves. These are quick fixes.

LNG systems will help support cost of the tank etc but are basically a monopoly and you are locked into their pricing.

This chart suggests no real savings. 15 Vs 15 Mains gas is 10.

Personally I would insulate the hell out of the attic and get zones, timers and only heat when and where needed.
