Well water supply

In a new place that has a well water supply, there is are a few pieces of hardware located in a shed near the well, looks like a tank/possibly pump connected to 2 blue tanks and a container for salt softener. I topped up the softener to a level as there was some in a bag when I got here.

Of the 2 blue tanks (which I assume are some kinds of filters themselves) one has a electro-mechanical device on the tank, that includes what looks like a small filter bowl

How often should these be serviced/looked at? (annually? every 2 years?) whats involved (ie what does someone do for a service?) and any ideas of the likely cost?
