Hello,

Can the DPS refund done through myGov.ie? I have searched through the headings but cannot find the section. If its only through revenue.ie Ill have to get my password reissued.

Its through revenue, its in the tax credits section for medical expenses.

Do you mean a refund of payments of over 80 a month?

Its done through the HSE, nothing to do with Revenue

If you mean tax relief on the 80 a month, that's done via Revenue.

Well if its the tax relief you can claim for the last 4 years, you can only claim for this years expenses early next year onwards.

Thanks Kimbot. Yes I have print outs from the chemist for the last 4 years. I still cannot find the correct section. Is it under PAYE services? Review your tax from 2018 - 2022?

Yes, review your tax, then it will show credits you are entitled to/possibly entitled to. You select health expenses and place the years total amount then in the box and submit.

I can only say the way it works for me. I get an annual printout for the monthly excess spend from the chemist and enter that figure in my Revenue return on ROS. As I have both PAYE and some rental income I have to return Form 11 annually.

You can actually claim monthly throughout the year now; if you are PAYE. This is new.

Things just got a little more complicated. I have seeming preliminary underpayed tax by a substantial amount. This is going to be a headache.

Happened me once when the ROS website was a bit different, I thought I had proceeded through payment when I hadn’t. Had to pay a big fine. I complained about the site not being quite explicit enough, it was changed to make it much more clear.
