If I buy a property abroad do I have to tell revenue?

    I am looking at buying a small property abroad, a fixer upper. I would not be renting it out, just for my own use. Do I need to tell revenue?

    It's not necessary to specifically report your acquisition of foreign property in and of itself, but there can be circumstances where such acquisitions might have tax ramifications and might result in you having to report something and possibly pay taxes. This Revenue page has more detail.

    If the OP is required to file a form 11 for the year of acquisition then he is specifically required to notify the acquisition of chargeable assets.
