Will Manager be informed of new application?

So I'm a TCO in a local authority and I'm looking to apply for another job in the same local authority. It's a unique job;not on a CO/EO etc scale. I think there are only 2 in the authority currently.

Will my current manager know/be informed if I apply for this role? It's in a different department in the authority.

None of us can say for sure, without knowing the LA.

But I'd guess it's very likely.

Is it an open competition? If so, no they won't.

Its none of their business and you're entitled to apply for any positions you want.

I would be surprised if they would be. And 100% agree with the post above - you are entitled to apply for any post you want and any manager worth their salt would be happy to see a team member advance - to be fair to the public sector there is actually a good attitude in respect to seeing people advance.
