Hospitality sector annoys me. Unless your running a 5 star super high end it's not a career path and anyone can do it. They pay low wages for a reason to extract the most profit as they know anyone can do the job. When the owners moan All I hear is not being able to have another ivory back scratcher. Obviously the sector is important for Tourists. Will we be seeing the bill next to the government contract.

Edit just noticed those heat pumps must work really well with the aircon and open windows.

There is a series on BBC at the minute called the hotel people.

They keep giving out about not being able to get staff....zero mention of increasing pay...

You'd be surprised just how awful 99% of the people who think "anyone can do it" actually are at doing it, when you live* somewhere where both hotels are owned by "anyone can do it!" people that have fucked up, and then given up. One hotel has shut despite the huge money to be made, the other is open but making every guest consider why they've made such poor life decisions. It isn't as incredibly simple as people think - if it was, nobody would fail at it, and yet loads do.

However, the majority of places have made absolutely ridiculous profits this year and can shut the hell up for the winter, thanks very much

*I don't, other family members do

Probably loads of ways that fella can reduce it from 70k, he says he has no solar panels but will look into them now. That is a start, probably loads of power wasting equipment in that building

Oh OFC I never said it was easy that's the issue. Let me rephrase, Skillswise easy. It's hard graft to be sure. I could be a labourer but not stick it out. Raising the pay may decrease the turnover. But I always assume it's a interim job that you do then get on a career path. Put it this way I have traveled a fair bit. Almost every place it's mostly immigrants working in the hotels on cruise ships and alike It's hard to get people from the country your in to work in them.
