Vodafone Gigabox - Bridge modem

Hi guys,

I have a Vodafone Gigabox, but as everyone know the wifi is crap so I am using a TP LINK DECO.

No issues, it works very well so far. But I lost my connection for a few seconds twice, only enough to bother because I competitive play online games/ranked matches...

My question is: HOW CAN I ACCESS THE VODAFONE GIGABOX SETUP when the device is in BRIDGE MODE? There is any way?

What is your current connection? FTTC( VDSL ) or FTTH ? What is your broadband package?

ps. Last question completely unrelated, what do you play? Some battle royale games ? Fortnite/PUBG etc?

On most bridged modems, you can access the device on its original IP but you might need to set a static IP on the wired Ethernet of the PC/laptop and connect it directly to the Gigabox with a cable.

As @alec76 mentioned, what type of connection do you have? If it's FTTH (fibre, not through the phone line) then you don't need the Gigabox at all.

Sorry to jump on the thread, just curious what you mean exactly by not needing the Gigabox at all? I have FTTH and also have a deco system for wireless but in AP as I was unable to get it to work with the Gigabox in bridge mode.

I’m not familiar with that system but if it has a router built in and supports VLAN tagging on the WAN interface, you could remove the Gigabox from the equation entirely and plug straight into the ONT on the wall.

No I'm afraid it doesn't, but I'd be more than open to replacing the router with a standalone modem, or any other router that would work. I am currently running it in a 3 node system, one beside the router, one in the front office across the hall connecting to the xbox and pc, and one upstairs. The big problem is having double nat if I use it in router mode, which is why I have it set to AP currently. If I could do away with the Gigabox I'd jump at it.

Which Deco model? This link suggests they do support VLAN tagging.

I am pretty sure, all DECO or other TP-Link routers support VLAN tagging.

Just an update, I got a good deal from Eir so I went with that, setting everything up this morning I abandoned the F2000 and am using the Deco. All things are as they should be.
