Hi I am absolutely new to the idea of solar PV. One thing I have found so far is that the cost of the panels and batteries is much cheaper if I buy direct ie no markup by the solar pv companies in Ireland. So has anyone gone down the route of buying direct and getting a qualified solar installer to install? Thanks

That's not exactly true, last year I priced all the parts from the likes of solartricity/midsummer and the cost of the parts worked out about the same as what the installer was charging me and with the grant I'd say it worked out cheaper.

I highly doubt you will find any installer willing to use your own parts etc as they lose a lot of the markup then and the reality is they won't be bothered with such a small job as all of them are mad busy right now.

If you can find a roofer that can throw the panels on the roof for you, run the wires yourself and then just get an electrician to wire everything in then maybe.
