Upcoming Budget

What are the good people of Boards hoping for in this very important budget?

Winter is looming and the price of fuel, firewood and everything else is going through the roof so how are the governent going to look after people?

As a middle income earner, I feel we will be let down once again. Doesn't look like this 30% tax bracket will be introduced because it's "too hard to implement" according to Leo. Funny considering how easy it was to implement loads of things so fast for the last two years.

They might throw us a fiver a week if we're lucky.

Most of the increased costs of living are out of our ( and the government's) control.

The government can't just magically "look after people". Someone has to pay for it.

No matter what they do there will be loads of giving out from various groups. The free money tree brigade in particular.

I would hope for a suspension of VAT on domestic heating/cooking fuel. But doubt this will happen.

The thing is with cutting VAT or whatever is will that cut be passed on the end user or will it mean companies keeping their prices the same and just pocketing the extra. We have seen Utility companies profits go through the roof this year, in saying that the governments coffers have gone through the roof as well with all the extra money they are getting of VAT.

With the current fuel prices seemingly coming down now I can't see government doing too much except the usual little tinkering at the edges to keep the natives happy.

I'd like to see a cap on the standing charges utility companies can charge, that's creeping up along with basic cost.

    Bullsh1t.

Our green agenda has a lot to do with price rises. Sooner the better those muppets are wiped out for good.

Housing is all the EUs fault? Putin's? Covid? They have really fooled you.
