200mm cavity closer, DPC?

Hi guys , getting close to the block layer starting the upstairs part of my house and when it comes to the cavity closer I'm scratching my head to avoid a thermal bridge. Block layer has mentioned a thermal block but I've seen DPC been used under the wallplate and stretched to the outer wall under the last course. Cavity is being pumped.

Does a closing block add more strength to the wallplate instead of resting the roof load onto the inner leaf?

Cavity closing block are never used in the UK, the timber wallplate is always laid (and fixed) solely on the inner leaf blockwork and at the risk of having my hand slapped may I add I've yet to see a house collapse with such an arrangement.

Cavity closing block is a bad detail and has always been a bad detail. The old school slate closer was actually a better detail, but went out of fashion with concrete roof tiles. I'm sure there is a preformed insulated closer now.

It's a 112mm high uninsulated cold bridge around the entire perimeter. Loses a huge amount of heat in traditional construction
