Saw that if get a kryptonite lock and register it, they have a scheme(called ATPO) that covers if the lock is broken. Anyone know if this works in ireland/if they're good at paying out etc if bike stolen. Getting new bike worth almost 4k and home insurance won't cover it . It's first time owning a high value bike so the decent lock thing is a whole new world.

It says it’s valid in Ireland on their site, have read a couple stories online from the UK that say they’ve paid out, the only thing is it’s excluding tax, so you’d only be paid the value of the bike minus VAT. It also depends on which lock you get, with some you may have to pay

Alternatively there’s the likes of bikmo etc that do dedicated bike insurance, but you’re probably looking at the guts of 300 quid a year.

Yeah I never factored in insurance when deciding what bike to buy. There's another company called bicycleinsurance who are cheaper than bikmo . Was hoping that the kryptonite would negate the need of insurance
