Micra 2012 shaking

I just bought this car in May. I bought off a private seller so no come-back. I've brought it to my own garage twice but it is still shaking, so thinking of bring it elsewhere but don't really know what to do. I am in Galway. I was wondering if anyone else had come across this specific problem?

This only happens if I drive the car a while (it can be a short journey), stop for a while (anything from a few minutes to a few hours), and on the return journey it shakes. It seems to shake much worse after cornering or breaking. Not during cornering or breaking but afterwards. Passengers can feel it shaking as well as myself.

The car is automatic so I don't know if that is relevant.

This is work that has been done on it (I wanted a general service so some of this might not relate to shaking). Air filter, cabin filter, alternator belt, one wheel bearing, underseal. The garage is usually reliable that I go to so I'm not sure if I should go back again but it seems pointless.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Have you driven another one to compare it with your own? Micras are fairly awful to drive compared to other cars, with shakes/rattles being fairly common from my experience.

I don’t see how any of the items you replaced would help with shaking. Does it feel like the engine is shaking or is it the suspension?

Thanks for your reply. The car I had before this was a 2002 Micra. So the older shaped one. No shaking with that, and to be honest even though it was 20 years old it was a lot better than this car. I only got rid of it as it was rust eaten. I've been in a few Micras as a passenger and never experienced a problem like this.

I don't really know where the shaking is coming from. It feels like the whole car is chugging. I haven't driven it a lot as I was away and was sick for a few weeks and the shaking is making me nervous so I am avoiding driving. It feels like something is really wrong rather than just a quirk of the car. Maybe I just have to put up with it until something blows?

I didn't have money for a better car so that is how I ended up with this one. I had it checked before buying, but this problem wouldn't have shown up on a test drive as it required the person to drive, park for a while, and drive again before it shakes.

Can you narrow it down to the route you're on?

I have a regular journey where in one direction on a dual carriage way I feel the car shaking and trying to steer itself but in the other direction nothing, the same route in another car I get nothing in either direction.

I've put it down to just an interaction between the road surface and tyre tread pattern

Thanks for the replies. The route doesn't seem to make a difference. The only consistent factor seems to be that it only happens on a drive after I've already driven and parked that same day. I think it might be worse in city traffic where there is a lot of stopping and starting and turning corners/roundabouts. Weirdly the day it was very bad, when I got a chance to increase the speed (from 40km/h to 50km/h) the shaking stopped.

It doesn't seem to be the suspension as I was on quite a bad road today and it was fine. (I've just driven one way, no return journey, so no bouncing today).

I'm hoping it is not the transmission as they are notoriously bad on these cars and too expensive to fix. But it feels smooth normally on the first journey of the day.

I might try another garage and they are located in the city where there would be a lot of stopping and starting so I think more likely to trigger the shaking.
