My husband bought a new Samsung A13 in Tesco store yesterday. Nobody explained to him that he would have to purchase a charger. All that came with it was a lead... which didnt fit any plug we have. Surely, if you buy something for a purpose you should be able to use it for that purpose.

We are both pensioners and do not understand this.

You could just buy a Usb C (round shaped connector) to Usb A (rectangle) cable - 1.50 or cheaper in dealz - and use your existing chargers.

eg. check in shop if this fits your phone -> https://www.dealz.ie/381233-multi-usb-charger/ (75 cents)

As ozmo said, you can replace your cable it you want for a very modest fee. These days phones do not come bundled with chargers and must be purchased separately if needed, USB C is the type of connector your A13 uses - it will be worth your while picking one of those chargers up at some point as this will be the standard for the foreseeable future.
