Sending gifts to the USA

A good friend has moved to the US. I have read that I can send a gift, up to the value of $100. Does this include postage charges - the website isn't clear about this?

Any other advice as to how to avoid problems - like the recipient being charged duty ?

Is An Post the best option ?

    Thanks

why not buy on Amazon.com and choose the giftwrap option. Much easier. I do that for sending to a family member and godchild

But if sending, it is always the landed cost, so it will be the value including postage.
