‘Ireland’s Call’ for the anthem and a red hand slapped into the middle of the tricolour, problem solved.

“It is not blood that makes you Irish but a willingness to be part of the Irish nation” - Thomas Davis

Only if it's Luke Kelly's recording being sung every time.

Thomas Davis has had it ready for almost 180 years now.

Completely agree and thought that for a long time too, could only imagine the emotion hearing it sung before a game, hairs on neck stuff.

    'Drinking all the day'

'Dreamed all night of a land where no man had to fight'

It really sums us up, why they had to commission the shite that is Ireland's call is beyond me.

    Ms

I Agree this modernised a bit but not in a bad way would make a great national Anthem.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Have something purely instrumental and when we're ready many years in the future then we can add lyrics if we want.

no point being in a united Ireland when we're in the EU.

Why not? Allow those in the occupied territories to move away living under an unelected, billionaire head of state who has consistently interfered with the British democratic system and their state religion and its’ undue influence.

I think the current national anthem will do. I love that song.

There was less point when the whole island was in the EU, now that 6 counties are not in the EU and the other 26 are there is a point, for stability and peace in the border regions, to eradicate the possibility (however slim it may be) of the return of border infrastructure ripping apart peaceful communities that happen to straddle an arbitrary line drawn across the land over a century ago.

It's probably easy to say there is no point in a united Ireland when you are far enough away from the border for it to mean nothing.

It's a bit different when the closest place to buy a loaf of bread is across the border, or your best friend lives five minutes away across the border.

Love Song for Ireland but it's a song that would bring a tear to your eye in a quiet corner of a pub, and not one that would rouse up a team ahead of a big international match in any sport.

Love the likes of the French and Italian anthem and have been at matches where half of the Irish crowd are humming along to it when it's been played. Our own Amhran na bhFiann is a good one also that gets a crowd roused up, as well as Flower or Scotland. Other end of the scale is the like of God Save the Queen or Irelands Call.

As much as I'd like to think otherwise, if we do have a united Ireland sometime in the future we'll have to make some compromises and hope we can come up with something good that represents all the good Ireland has regardless of political outlook

Perhaps something without lyrics like I Spain have. (I think)
