Council damaged my driveway, what are my rights?

Hi, Not sure if this is the right forum but someone might be help to help. Back in early May when resurfacing our public road the council workers accidentally did some damage to my front driveway. I asked to see the foreman in charge and he apologised and said they would rectify it. They tried to rectify it but only made it a whole lot worse. The foreman's superior then got involved, who in turn apologised and between us we agreed on how the thing could be fixed to my satisfaction. It's not major but it's still an eyesore in a prominent position right at the entrance to my property. The problem is that he hasn't come back to fix it. Granted it couldn't be done during all the rainy weather as it will require painting but since the weather improved I've been ringing the council almost every day begging for this job to be done and nothing is happening.

I'm starting to get really annoyed now. This is 100% the fault of the council and it is now months since it happened and I'm still looking at this eyesore. How can I force the Council to repair the damage they caused? Who do I address my complaint to? I have names, dates, photos etc.so will make an official complaint if I have to. I'd still like to resolve this amicably but I'm beginning to feel that they have no intention of coming back. However they are liable and are fully aware of this so presumably they have to either repair or pay for repairs? But I don't know and am hoping somebody here does. Thanks so much.

    What Council?

Do you have anything in writing?

Get onto your Local councillor as they can make things move and will be looking for your vote!

Thanks Gumbo for your reply. Getting on to my local councillor is a good idea, hadn't thought of that. I'm out of the country at the moment and they still haven't been round to fix it, really annoying as the weather was good. I'm not letting them get away with this. It's Kerry Co Council.

I'd imagine June\July\August would be a bad time to get council workers to do remedial work. Lots of lads on holidays.
