I am changing my private car to a new company car.

all existing personal details are the same for the new car, same driver, kept at same address etc and not used for commercial use except i am registering it in the company name.

Will this have an effect on the premium?

The company will have to insure it.

You cannot insure something you don't own.

I would imagine that insuring it under a company name will immediately make the insurance company assume some element of Commercial use and quote accordingly. Why not call them and find out? Otherwise, all you will get here will be guesswork and conjecture as the Insurance industry is a funny one and each case is different. 🙂

You might have difficulties with your no claims bonus when you switch back from company car to personal.

Maybe I misread this, but your company is buying you a car, but to be only used privately?

Think you should talk to your accountant as well as your insurance company.

Revenue will probably have an opinion too :)
