Customs tariffs from Ukraine 🇺🇦

I ordered a leather purse from a small, independent craftsman in Ukraine, which has now arrived in Ireland. The value of the product was €21.00 and I’ve received a notice from An Post that I have to pay over €7.00 in customs charges to release the item.

I thought that customs tariffs were suspended in June for Ukraine imports to the EU. Can anyone enlighten me as to the current situation on customs duties please?

It's not a customs tariff, it's Irish VAT.

oh, I’ve looked at the notice again just now, you’re right, it’s VAT and an admin fee of €3.50 🙄

@Fakediamond perhaps you could create a thread where you could share details of this craftsmen - am sure there would be quite a few boardsies who would be interested (with the flag about VAT and handling) / or if you could share with me by PM at least thanks :)

I am entertaining the idea of ordering a pair of used hearing aids from Ukraine. They're priced at 650 euro including free shipping. Hearing Aids are exempt from VAT in Ireland so I wonder if it would be subject to any other tariffs upon arrival here?

Trying to figure out whether it'd be worth my while!
