TUI Airways Air Passenger Rights Compensation Claim

Long story short, my flight was delayed by more than 3 hours and TUI have confirmed I'm entitled to compensation, in the confirmation email I receive they said "Your payment will be processed in the form of a Bank Transfer. You will shortly receive a link to provide us with your Bank Transfer details, which will be sent to the E-mail address provided when you submitted your claim. This link is only valid for 24hrs, once provided your payment will be processed within 7-10 working days."

I'm just wondering if anybody knows how long 'shortly' is as I received this email on the 18th and have not yet received the follow-up email.

If you're on FB there's a group called TUI Horror Stories & Complaints awareness - lots of first-hand information on there but more UK based I think.

We were due to fly from Dub-Zante on May 22nd, delayed 23hrs.

After numerous times filling in compo form, it was continually coming back as 'We've investigated and you've already been compensated', sent a few emails to them which went unanswered.

Now i was only claiming for my wife and i plus our 5yr old as we all paid full price, never claimed for our 1yr old, then out of the blue last week i receive an email asking for my bank details to pay 400 compo for our baby, a few hours later a seperate request for the rest of us, now i know that all are entitled to it, if yuo were on the manifest, free seat or not, you get the compo

This was last Tuesday, nothin in bank yet.

Second it hits the bank i'll be hitting them for another 300 claim, pro rata for losing a nights holiday

I'm waiting 2 weeks now & haven't got the link yet. I booked through a TUI shop & a few days after we got back they called & refunded the missed nights accommodation.

I got an e-mail from them on Friday with a TUI voucher for €1000 as an apology for the delay. When we they mailed us to say our flight was delayed they said we'd be due 400/person compensation & we would also get a €200/person voucher which would have been €800. When they confirmed the compensation it was only €200/person, missed the 400 by 16km.

Wow! You got a €1000 voucher for the delay on top of the compensation you're due, that's great.

Vouchers were originally 200, then they upped it to 400, now 500pp

Think about it, a couple can get a holiday for a grand if theyre not fussy, imagine all with vouchers doing that

Something doesn't smell right, IMO they're throwing out vouchers left right and centre because they know they'll be useless when they go tits up

Similar situation to the OP, had our flight delayed by 21hrs from Dublin, family of four with a free child place.

Applied 3 times with the online form and kept getting knocked back with 'cannot find you on the manifest'. Until I emailed the email they provided and then they replied to say 3/4 would get the compensation with the free child place not entitled to any compensation for the following reason "Please note that in line with the regulations free child places are not entitled to compensation therefore XXX has been excluded."

Its hard to get anything definitive on this online about compensation for free child places but I assumed as another poster here that everyone on the manifest was entitled despite the cost of their flight. If we are only eneltitled to 3/4 then so be it but if it's supposed to be 4/4 then I will raise it as an issue with them.

    From citizens information

Who does the law not apply to?

The law does not apply if you are travelling free of charge or at a fare that is reduced and is not available directly or indirectly to the public.

Although the TUI free child place is just a scam. When I was booking before I searched free child places & then without. Flying on a Thursday with no free place cost roughly the same as flying on the Saturday with a free place.

Thanks for clarifying that, guess some were just lucky with the chaos of the original cancellations and TUI have realised the error now.

I must look at the price comparisons next year too for free child places Vs date of travel as you said but will lean towards Shannon next year so choices might not be as plentiful.

Same as yourselves, Family of 4, 3 of us paid full price (Myself, Wife and 5yr old) and our 1yr old was a freebie, delayed 23hrs on May 22nd

Finally received 1,600 compo on Friday, originally i only applied for Compo for the 3 of us, incorrectly assuming that baby wasnt entitled, they sent me an email requesting bank details for 400 compo for baby, followed 3hrs later with request for details for the rest of us.

On a sidenote, todays Dub-Zakynthos flight, which was scheduled for 13:30 has been delayed until tomorrow....at least

I got paid from them within 48 hours after completing the bank details request form.....took me by surprise to be honest,I'd thought I'd be waiting a while and their message did say it would be paid in 7-14 days.

I got the bank details request yesterday and completed it same day so will keep an eye on our account to see when it lands.

That Dublin to Zaynthos flight seems to be cursed. We are hoping we get out on Saturday from Rhodes but they have had similar issues with that flight.
