public sector pension break in service

    Hi Folks,

I have been in the Public Sector since 2003. I am leaving my current employers to start in another public sector body.

I am due to finish up this week; however, due to Unusual/ Unforeseen circumstances, I want to push out my start date in the new role. I was planning to have 2/3 weeks off (unpaid), meaning I will have no employment for the break.

I'm worried this will constitute a break in service and may affect my pension.

I have searched online, but I can't get clarification.

I'd appreciate any advice on this.

I don't think such a short break will cause you any issue.

The threshold is 26 weeks before you would get moved from your existing scheme to the single scheme.
