I wish to paint the pieces of metal in the picture. I will be mounting them on a metal door with an oak like finish. Therefore I hope to paint the pieces brown. Can I expect a reasonably nice

finish using hammerite and a brush? If so, what size and type of brush would you recommend? Any other advice for someone who hasn’t painted metal before?

Give the parts a key for the paint to have something to adhere to. By this I mean, take the gloss finish off the parts by sanding or run a wire brush on them. I'd go with spraying them myself - building up the layers gradually. Hammerite do spray tins and the holes in the parts are ideal for hanging the parts up while you spray.

If using a brush, then a good qual 12mm (1/2") would be fine. iirc, hammerite doesn't leave brush marks
