The dead and their legal standing

    I need some legal light on this. Specifically in what areas does the law exercise some control of/for the dead (probate, graveyard regulations, child victims?) On what basis does it do so? If rights only adhere to the living are the laws in relation to any of these areas based more on property rights and effects on the living? Interested to know what people have learned in this area.
