Motortax.ie issue

    Anyone having an issue with the motor tax website. Issue relating to a problem accepting cards. After speaking to them on the phone, they are sending out a form and accepting payment by check. Sounds odd to me.

    Just used it the other day, no problems.

    Been a very long time since I've had a cheque book...

    In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

    Is it down to you not receiving the verification text with a pin? If it is check your spam messages.

    I had the same issue a few weeks back. Tried 3 different cards from 2 different banks and couldn't figure out what was going on. The tax office seemed to think I was a one off cos nobody else rang with the same issue. Turned out it was my phone sending all the texts to the spam folder. I've heard it happen to a few people since.

    I've never got a text from them, just email reminders with the PIN. If you don't have the PIN they should take card payment over the phone.

    I meant when your paying and going thru the verification by visa process.

    It asks for 3 entries from your banking pin and also sends a text with a 6 digit code. This is from the bank tho and not motortax. My phone was sending the text to spam so I wouldn't get a notification or see them unless I checked the spam folder. I know a few others who had the same issue.

    Thanks for the helpful replies.

    It's an elderly relative I'm helping. He doesn't have online banking, so I think the issue is with two factor authentication. The woman he spoke to on the phone said they were having an issue accepting cards, but think he might be covering. I wanted to use my card to pay it, but he seems happy to wait for the form and pay by cheque.

    Yes, if the payment triggered a security check then it can not be done without online banking.

    Seeing the same issue, im getting the 3DS verification from Revolut but then Motor Tax is rejecting it saying theres a problem with my bank.
