All four men going down with long sentences.

I just can't understand why they thought this was acceptable?

Did they not think they would time for this?

Same as most of the criminals who are convicted.

They thought they'd never get caught, or more likely they didn't think beyond their own immediate gratification at all.

I think we know enough that violent rapes are not the preserve of non nationals.

It's easy to focus on that.

But if they can be deported after serving their sentences they should be. Though i doubt our laws allow it.

Probably thought they were acting out some porn fantasy. The even filmed themselves.

I don't think the sentences were long enough. Also prison is too expensive and doesn't fix anything. They're just costing society more. There is a load of invasive plants in Killarney national park they could help dig out over the next few years. And that's just one example.

I don't think there is enough outrage about stories like this or enough been done to deter violence.

Everyone "raging" about Dublin airport queues, even people not travelling and the government jumping like frightened bunnies 'cause Ireland might be embarrassing itself intentionally and not keeping up appearances.

Meanwhile this rot is taking hold in the country. And they are not doing anything about it.

It was a privilege to enter Ireland, now it should be revoked.

We don't and should not keep convicts after prison time if they are immigrants.

I assume they have citizenship. You can’t revoke that as we please, unfortunately. I’d be curious to see if the length of sentence is appealed on the grounds of out of line with similar. I don’t remember rape sentences getting this level previously.

Their nationality is irrelevant alright. This could just as easily have been carried out by five Irish born scumbags. There's not much evidence that non nationals are more likely to be convicted of serious offences than Irish people.

There certainly should be a law that a persons acquired Irish citizenship can be revoked on committing violent crimes.. murder, rape, assault etc….and they get repatriated back to their country of origin…with their bank account debited for their ticket.

non violent crimes 2/3 strikes and bye.

Even the guy who raped his foster child over 1,000 times according to the victim only got 11 years recently

Foster father who raped girl over 1,000 times jailed for 11 years

A foster father who raped his foster daughter over 1,000 times has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

Kelly Kemmy (24), who decided to waive her right anonymity in order to name Stephen Murray (56), her foster father and abuser, said she was raped 1,000 times from the age of 11 until she was 18.

She told the Central Criminal Court she stands before Murray now a survivor and is determined not to let the abuse define her.

Murray, of Humphreystown, Valleymount, Co Wicklow, pleaded guilty to 14 charges of rape, two charges of oral rape and one charge of sexual assault on dates between February 2009 and December 2015. He has no previous convictions.

I don’t think he is, in fairness.

For cases like that the perpetrator generally isn’t convicted of 1000 crimes, they are convicted of a smaller number of ‘sample charges’.
