Help. Electrical part

    Hi people.

    Very long story involving the shifter in an auto f11 BMW.


    Upshot is I need 7 of these, see photo of cable cap, to go into the pin connector. (last owner was deffo in here).


    Go into this block

    RS will have them - the crimper will be a few quid though

    You can also try Farnell

    I'd be super careful you are getting the correct part, there could be very tiny differences between the right and wrong connector.

    It's going badly TBH

    Got the cable caps, and they are the right size.

    Crimped

    Didn't notice that the last fool had damaged the actual connector block, won't snap shut. Cables moving a little every time.

    On to a couple of scrap yards now. Hopefully one can just rip one with a few cm of cable attached and i'll just connect onto them......

    I'm not familiar as to what you are plugging into, is it a sensor or gearbox etc, or just another connector - eg cable to cable joined by M/F connectors?

    If the later, and you are considering joining in a cable from a scrapyard (assuming you will cut and solder), I personally, would opt to buy suitable, for my crimping tool, connectors fro Farnell/RS and just replace the BMW ones. I'd consider it less of bodge job. I would wrap a note around it to say "non standard connectors" for any future owner, if you are so inclined.

    But, if you're plugging into something, that won't work.

    Good luck with it, we all know the feeling of fixing up someone else's mess :(

    Yep it's a plug into the gear shifter.

    So i think the handiest will be to get my hands on the plug with tails. Then join my cables to those.

    Crimped/solder/connectors, whichever looks best.

    Right now a block cable joiners looks likely

    Got the car driving last night anyway.

    Need to eh beautify my bodge repair to get it going for today. But all fine.
