It wasn't particularly high spec. Unusual at the time but not ground breaking. None of my cars since have had one and they'll all been newer and some high spec.

ya it was unusual alright for them to have one. they seem to be nearly as standard now days on cars from around 2018 onwards just wondering was there any cars/suvs that had them earlier than that. i must do a bot more research & see.

You can get aftermarket cameras fitted. Quality varies. Best case they use the cars infotainment screen and are almost 100% like stock, cheaper ones replace or sit on or near rear view mirror. Professional companies can install good options. Often they were an option on cars so it may or may not be fitted. From 2016 or later they were common. Some integrate reversing sensors and steering angle into them. Some are very poor quality particularly at night. Search done deal with filter for year and camera. I own a 2016 VW with one, but it's high spec late 2016 model with adaptive cruise control and automatic dsg gearbox.

Nissan Primera was the first mainstream car I can remember with one. Even on Lexus’s they didn’t get them for 3 or 4 years after that.

Most higher spec versions around 2016 would have one. Some can be easily added.

The model before 2012 facelift would have them typically on higher spec UK imports. 2012 on would have them on Irish Strata spec or higher.

A reversing camera is not a given on alot of cars from any particular year. They are more common on newer cars these days some have them while some don't. Some have them instead of rear parking sensors while others have one along with parking sensors. Some cars also have 3d surround cameras. It really boils down to the model and spec.

Another p12 primers driver here. Such an odd quirky sort of a machine I always thought. Had it until 2015. 1.6 petrol and thirty enough too. Hard to believe it had a camera back then now. 04 mine was.

My 2012 car has reversing camera, most cars made in the last 5 or so years will have them since they were made mandatory in the US in 2018 as the tech is already there

2002 P12 Primera was def the first to have them here anyway as standard.....

You can get them retrofitted very cheap so any car at this stage can have one.

You even seen the little bluetooth ones that work with your phone but no idea if any good. A wire one is not serious money

I've a 2006 1.6 as a backup car. The camera is better than some of the newer car cameras, including that in the latest Mazda 6, which I think is junk.

The thing that annoys me about my avensis one is when the lights are turned on camera screen goes dull.
