    Hello,

I am in Ireland since 2006, originally paid just through PAYE, then using ROS since 2012. But now I am writing an introduction for fresh immigrants in Russian, and it looks like the way you register has changed - I would appreciate clarification from those in the know :)

    (a) How do people register as spouses after freshly coming to the country and getting PPS numbers? Does each spouse needs to register for myAccount then somehow request joint assessment? Or does the assessable spouse register for myAccount and then request joint assessment and send in the documents and the PPS of the other spouse? Also, if the marriage certificate is in another language, what kind of translation is required, will an informal one suffice?

    (b) What's up with registering one's job with PAYE? Earlier one had to go to Revenue with the details of every new job but this seems to have changed, but is still required for the first job and is now online-only? Does this mean that the inevitable delay with setup of myAccount (because a confirmation is posted) makes emergency taxation unavoidalbe?

    (c) It seems that, to access ROS at all, you now need to be already registered for income tax as a sole trader. So does this mean that, if you have a fresh PPS and are starting out as a sole trader, you need to:

    1. Set yourself up on myAccount
    2. Register as a sole trader
    3. Set yourself up on ROS?

Quite a few steps here, are all of them required?
