Going back to college, should I downgrade my car?

I’m going back to college for a masters.

I’m going to commute from home to save money but I’m still looking at €7500 in fees.

I currently have a 2016 2L TDi Golf, 128k miles give or take.

    It’s worth around €14000 (I think).

I owe €7500 of a Credit Union loan on it, that’s costing me €50 a week.

Diesel is also running me around €50 a week.

I’m only going to work 1 day a week whilst doing the Masters as I’ve heard it’s quite intense.

    If I get a Saturday I’ll get €85, if I do a Sunday I’ll get €105 or so, but I can’t guarantee I’ll get a Sunday.

So my issue is less so saving for the fees, but my weekly expenses whilst in college.

I’m thinking of selling it and using the money to buy a Jap econbox, like a Corolla, Yaris, Civic etc - something bulletproof.

I know diesel comes with added issues, is it worth getting one considering I’ll be commuting 45km each way 6 days a week, unless I start getting the train.

    Any suggestions/ideas?

Am I better off selling the car or just topping up my loan? P
