    Hi All,

I've external power socket at the bottom of my garden.

It's approximately 50m from the fuse box and on the cable is 3x2.5 which I take is 3 core at 2.5mm2.

I would like to use it to power a water heater which is 2.05kW.

Is this cable sufficient or do I need to lay another bigger cable?

    TIA

    goodone

Prob get it hooked up by a rec if it's ready

Check your Zl and the volt drop with the heater on

For the info given, i have checked for buried SWA. It is sufficient.

    Thanks Kirk & Andrea B.

    It's an SWA cable.

I'm waiting on a Spark to come to wire in the heater so he can check.

    The R1 +R2 seems to be 1.5 ohm for 100m 2.5 SWA

Think u can add that onto the fault impedance where you connect the swa , they use those methods in the UK afaik , so seems to be marginal for even a B16 which is about 2 ohm max

Presume u can parallel the armour with the cpc too to bring it down further too

Volt drop I think is about 10v for the swa itself but it's only a heating load so a few volts probably wouldn't matter
