Good indie mechanics that won’t overcharge me in Dublin for brake pads on an Audi A4?

I’ve had a warning light on the dash for the last year saying “brake pads are worn but I can continue driving” so not sure if that’s a faulty sensor (since it’s been a year and continue driving hasn’t changed to stop driving) or genuinely worn brake pads.

nonetheless, NCT is up in 2 months and I heard your car will fail for any brake warning lights, regardless of sensor or brake issue.

ideally looking for a mechanic that wouldn’t overcharge me to bits. I don’t mind buying the parts online and taking them to a mechanic.

snyone have any good experiences with someone who does them cheap? I’m close to Walkinstown / Ballymount so there’s a heap around there. Just wouldn’t be sure which one is reliable.

also any idea of how much I’d be looking at to get front and back brake pads supplied + fitted or bought myself online + fitted by a mechanic.

    cheers!

Mulligans Garage. Honestly can’t recommend enough, Seamus is not only a real gent, but also well described as a mechanics mechanic if you know what I mean. He's helping me out with replacing my thermostat on my Mercedes. One thing I love about him that he really knows his German cars so we’ve a good ole natter about some of the classics.

His garage is in D8, Portobello if that’s any use.

Oh sorry, to me yes. I would defo give him a call, I know a lot of people who use him and no one has ever said he’s over priced. He’s one of those mechanics that is very practical IMO.

I paid for the diagnostic, although I had to twist his arm to take it. I’m getting the part from Mercedes as I’m not using an OEM and he’s helping me to fit it when it comes in.

In my case I went to 2 other indie garages, both that specialise in German cars, one wouldn’t even quote me and the other was more dear than a Mercedes’ dealer garage. My issue is the labour not the part if you understand what I mean. It’s kind of a pity too as it’s a an extremely common issue, so much that Mercedes adapted/ updated the part.

If they've been driving with worn pads for a year they'd have heard a lot of rattles by now, sounds more like a faulty sensor than the pads are worn.

@QuinnA98 Can you take a picture of the pads through the wheel spokes if you can see them. And of the disc thickness.
