The HSE has suggested the aforementioned should be banned. Once in a blue moon I like a chicken fillet roll with a bottle of full-sugar Coke and a bag of Johnnie Onion Rings.

That’s my infrequent pleasure but due to the minority who can’t go 5 minutes without a Twix in their mouths we all have to suffer.

This could be like the poxy sugar tax all over again. Piss off, nanny state. This is getting more and more like North Korea every day.

I hate it but I understand it. I just miss the rolls to be honest. No analog in the states for that.

Break a meal combo in the states to eg. Skip the soda or the side, you end up paying about as much anyway.

Just buy them all separate. Won't cost you an awful lot more, and as you say it's only a treat once in a while.

Yeah... non issue really. You can still buy all 3, but not for this alleged "deal" you'd be getting. Now you're just paying the full over-priced price, instead of the slightly cheaper but still over-priced "deal".

Unfortunately the chicken fillet role(and meal deal) is the staple diet of a large number of people. Get minor amusement when at the kids sports club watching all the pyjama zombies at circa midday waddling over to the garage and leaving with the above. All their homes have kitchens and there are two supermarkets within 5 mins walk, but oh no, waddle <100m from their home to the filling station whose main business is chicken fillet rolls. For the price of their meal deal they could have gone and got a cooked chicken int he supermarket for the whole family

It's a non-issue insofar as it has literally nothing to do with anything. If losing a meal deal is a big issue in your life, you might want to open your eyes a bit more. Or is it just people don't like being told what they can and can't do, even though our entire lives are based on it (laws, regulations, processes, etc).

I was only in Aldi, everything that is even remotely healthy is more expensive than the **** version. Can they not interfere in the markets and drop the tax/vat on products that are below a certain gram on macros. What sorry that's common sense, can we increase the tax on them all. Just make it so expensive people cannot eat, only every 3rd day and shower once a week.

Shocker: Fresh produce is more expensive than mass produced crap.

But I agree, tax the fatty food but subsidise the healthy stuff. It's the only way. But it won't happen. And the more people that buy the cheaper crap, the less the producers get because the cheaper crap is mass produced based on far cheaper rates (due to bulk purchase) of the producers. The people are pushing the price of fresh stuff up by constantly wanting the cheapest option available.

I'd also be for meat to be removed from Supermarkets and only available in butchers. This would remove these giants from basically being able to dictate what they're willing to pay to producers, which by all accounts is already shocking. These giants are paying only 35c per chicken and 60c for a free range one. Just so you can save a few euro.

But it's the same as every market. People want the best but also want to pay the cheapest. They don't care who it affects down the line, as long as they get what they want. Fasion, tech, produce... people complain constantly about prices, etc, but still shop in the cheapest, massive chain they can get. Everyone eventually loses.

They really do have one solution don't they. Make everything more expensive. Honestly this is a stupid idea in the middle of a cost of living crisis. They need to think outside the box for once, and not try and tax people to solve every damn problem.

It’s just mental. But then, you have so many poor, POOR excuses for gas station hot food over here, that the stigma is palpable. Best you normally see is hot dogs on rollers and biscuits under heat lamp. You get chains like Buckeys popping up but the Eire roll is not a feature.

This country is becoming a complete joke. Ban everything instead of education on the matter.

No wonder we are becoming the most expensive country in Europe.
