The series series has start filming.

The series follows the further adventures of the Mandolorian warrior, Din Djarin, and his and his adopted son, Grogu, as they traverse a Galaxy Far Far Away. Rosario Dawson will feature in a recurring role as beloved fan favourite character Ashoka Tano.

I'm hoping they get some specialists in to get her bouncing around for her fight scenes.

I know it's not the same but she's awful fast and acrobatic in the animated series.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Spon Farmer

Agreed. They need to show us more of these abilities in live action.

Dawson seems to be very stiff in her movements. I’m guessing the headpiece isn’t easy to wear but she needs to move more naturally.

I think I will have to revisit TCW and her appearances in Rebels before this show arrives.

Why do they need another series to be about him when we have had one or two already and Why name it after her then not have it about her? Strange decisions

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

That isn’t the actual synopsis of the show.

It was a response to how Filoni and Favereau turned The Book of Boba Fett into The Mandolorian - how Star Wars is all Mando & Grogu now and even Ashoka isn’t safe.

Has Robert Rodriguez and Jon Favreau somehow managed to put their book of fett into Filonis lap when the show barely credits Filoni with half an episode?

Filoni is executive producer and a co-writer/director of an episode.

please explain how this means he is “barely credited with half an episode”?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

Ha, I'm not convinced.  Robert Rodriguez and Jon Favreau are listed as Executive Producers and they got almost all the credits for Directing and Writing.

Hilarious to think there might be messaging out there trying to say this show wasn't primarily coming from Robert Rodriguez and Jon Favreau

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Spon Farmer

I never said the show was not primarily Rodrigeuz and Favereau.

I simply said I hold Favereau and Filoni accountable - they should know better.

you are talking a very twisty turny path if your intention is to claim Filoni holds no responsibility whatsoever. Rodriguez is way down the blame ladder since the show is better more than could be expected of him.

He was 100% aware of the story of the season and how it becomes all about Mando and Grogu - he is co-creator of the characters, wrote and directed an episode where the majority is nothing to do with Fett and he doesn’t even speak, is executive producer and is the Executive Creator Director of the company.

There is no way in hell that working in other projects had Filoni unaware of what was happening.

Celebration 2022 is the ideal place to get an explanation from Filoni and Favereau but it won’t happen.

Given the effort they seem to have invested in Grand Admiral Thrawn between the books and Rebels I hope he plays a major role.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Spon Farmer

Ashoka is certainly hunting him but my guess is that he is intended as the villain in the future crossover event if that is still happening.

Although I can’t imagine Thrawn being involved and for it be only about crossing over these TV shows - surely a massive space battle with the Republic would be involved.

To this day I cannot figure why Filoni was not the writer for the Sequel trilogy.

If ever the world the needed someone to travel back in time, it is for this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

I also think Filoni makes for a good creator, both writing and directing of the Star Wars shows where he's calling the shots. He's really been rising up in his experience through the animated shows and now getting his intro to live action.

I not convinced about the other two being hands off though and I can't see myself joining the circling of the wagons to defend Robert Rodriguez and Jon Favreau when they had the Director and Writer seats for almost all the episodes.

They are both career experienced veteran writer/directors of Live Action both in TV and Blockbuster movies. I find it hard to believe they wouldn't be calling the shots on their own work. They don't just have wiki pages, they get their own Filmography pages:

    That would be cool!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Spon Farmer

Why are you posting links to filmographies?

Why are you talking about Favereau and Rodrigeuz “being hands off” and “not calling the shots”?

Why do you think I’m not familiar with their work?

Who said they were not in charge? I never said they didn’t share responsibility- in my last post I specifically said that Favereau did. I said Rodrigeuz was further down the blame ladder because his past work shows what he is capable of and it is no surprise what went wrong.

i don’t think you have read my previous posts so I will say it again.

Filoni has responsibility for how The Book of Boba Fett turned into a show about Mando and Baby Yoda. He is Lucas’ hand picked storytelling successor and is an executive producer on the show. He directed and co-wrote an episode. He has even more to The Mandolorian.

He was aware of every step being taken on The Book of Boba Fett. He even said about season one of Mando that no characters from the franchise just so Mando could establish himself and the show stand or fall on its own merits.

The exact opposite was done with Boba Fett and the series was hobbled.

Luke, Mando, Grogu, Ashoka, Cad Bane and even the Marshal should never have been near that season. Boba Fett needed muscle? So create three or four alien or salty looking bounty hunters or use the some of the guys from Empire Strikes Back.

You don’t give over two episodes of a season to characters from a different show so that show can get a new spaceship and sideline your main guy.

The Book of Boba Fett didn’t need Mando or Grogu. It needed those two episodes to flesh out its own stories and characters.

And as much as I love Grogu Filoni and Favereau have completely undermined the season two farewell by bringing him so soon. They just don’t have the balls to keep him out of The Mandolorian and wait for meaningful return later. Another option would have have been to keep Grogu in the show but on Luke’s planet - give him five minutes each episode to show him training or having a cute adventure. Then reunite them in the season finale.

Honestly I can’t decide which potential occurrence is worse - that Mando and the Child show up inAshoka or that they don’t. If they do it takes away from the series standing on its own merits and if they don’t it is because Filoni wants the show to stand on its own merits. The later would be a kick in the teeth to Boba Fett.

Nah, I'm still not convinced. I definitely still think Robert Rodriguez and Jon Favreau had way more clout over this show.

I can even see recognition about Favreau coming through.

I know Filoni has slowly been climbing a ladder in Disney, regardless of what George Lucas thought of him, and is only just emerging into the live action scene. I can't see him throwing any shapes at long established live action heavy hitters like Robert Rodriguez and Jon Favreau.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Spon Farmer

I don’t know why you won’t read my previous posts fully. Or what it is in them that you don’t understand,

I have to kept to repeating the same thing over and over.

I never said Favereau and Rodrigeuz didn’t have “clout”. Favereau wrote all the episodes and co-wrote one with Filoni). And Rodrigeuz directed most of them. Of course they were running the show. You’d have to be stupid to think otherwise.

Just as it is daft to claim Filoni “barely gets credit for half an episode”.

The point of my post is that Filoni is that Filoni was not detached from the creative process of the show. He was fully aware of all plans - he even co-wrote and directed an episode . And he is supposed to know better than to allowing the complete cock ip that was made forcing Mando and Baby Yoda into a story that both did not need them and where they did not belong.

He even says it in the Disney Gallery. No previously know Star Wars characters, barely threads to the events going on in the wider galaxy, etc.

The show had to stand on its own.

The Book of Boba Fett was never given that chance.

At no point did I say the other two are not responsible.

Looks good. Felt myself trying to contain hype 🙂

    Kinda felt a little Filoni-ish, a little Andor-ish. That was a strange cross-feeling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

1: Felt like it's own show. Some characters felt a bit different from Rebels. I think Hera caught me a bit for feeling younger when Ashoka felt older. Don't know how Twi'leks age though.

Kevin Kiner putting in good work on the music.

Quite enjoyed it. The characters felt well definied, and the action was solid. Enjoying the hint of those deeper force mysteries.

Definitely! Just watched the second. Could be some big Force stuff coming up if they really are going

after Ezra .. and find him!

Also from the very basic knowledge I have of the old books, I'm like....

Yuuzhan Vong! No can't be! .. Or .. can it! Or .. I dunno 😲😀

Naaaaaaaaaahhhhh It's gotta be more Thrawn at it's core at least for season one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Spon Farmer

When the first Zahn trilogy was released part of Thrawn’s motivation was that he was aware of a threat to the galaxy and he believed only Palapatine’s Empire had the potential to defeat it.

I don’t what Zahn intended that threat to be (not the Vong as they were created later) or whether Lucasfilm made the Vong that threat but I do like your idea of bringing them in.

However they are not the species Elsbeth mentioned in relation to the map and the site where they used it. Those beings must have been explorers.

When the Thrawn story expands, they should include the original heroes - I’m happy for Luke and Leia (bring back Ehrinrich and Glover as Han & Lando) to be recast so that they can be a part of the Mando-Verse (although Thrawn-verse seem more appropriate.

Is SKELETON CREW a limited series too?

I had thought the intention with it and AHSOKA was multiple seasons so was surprised to see AHSOKA is not.

Does that mean there is just AHSOKA, one season of SKELETON CREW, season 4 of THE MANDOLORIAN before this all end with the Filoni movie?

    Well Filoni.

    Well. Well. Well.

I very nearly opened that spoiler - thought at first it was about the first two episodes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    4: He's there again!

Jacen! Again! A bad feeling! Another galaxy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    5: Well.

Ashoka looked like a Grey Jedi. Jacen had vibes. I mean like.. it's all I vaguely remember being told about.

Could well be the foundations of the future of Star Wars being laid out here.

Really depends on what's going on with this new Galaxy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

6: Oh wow! I'm fairly certain it's almost all the stuff I vaguely know about them. Just need to see them!

Thrawns troopers look absolutely wrecked! Numbers dwindling! Everyone wants off the Galaxy.

Emperor in the coming films making the biggest fleet and hiding it in the back arse end of the Galaxy.

    Jacen!!!

Grey Jedi, 2 now, Ahsoka and Ray Stevensons Padawan

Luke didn't have a clue. None of the Jedi seemed too.

Really feels like what I very hazily know about the Yuuzhan Vong.

7: Thrawn just so very very wants

outta there. acceptable losses all over the place. seems to be getting out with some special cargo all the same.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Spon Farmer

The Star Destroyer sustained heavy damage when the Purgills took hold of it and no doubt the starfighters, and trooper armour probably got a bit knocked up but the condition of the armour is down to thr Pugills or general wear and tear. And not from any confrontation with Ezra (if there ever was any).

They gone up against something else out there. My first thought on the cargo is dead Nightsisters (or possibly they are in some kind of suspended animation) and the intent is to resurrect them. However maybe the cargos is the things that they had been fighting. When Thrawn defeated then he decided to keep them for later use.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,501 ✭✭✭✭Slydice

    Season 1 finale, episode 8.

    Hmmmm. Still feels like

something is going on in that galaxy. Felt like Ray Stevenson was going to develop that idea. Now over to his Padawan instead.

Still my only guess is the Yuuzhan Vong. Though Filonis greater force powered race might have some kind of role to play.

Ezra not knowing makes a lot of sense in order to keep the longer/wider story consistent

I did like the owl showing up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,262 ✭✭✭Spon Farmer

    Yes the owl was cool.

yeah there is a lot going and Filoni didn’t write this show with the intention of wrapping it up in one movie.
