Donedeal asking prices

    Hi All

Just taking a look at donedeal prices - was trying to figure out what my car is worth (to see if worth selling and buying a new car

    or to just keep it)

and similar cars seem to be 4k - 5k asking however many are in for many days. I'm assuming

this means they are not selling and priced too high or is it something else.

Would a "real" obtainable price be say the donedeal price minus 1k for example?

Most sellers on DD will leave room for a haggle.

You'd really need to figure out what a specific car is worth to you and proceed from there.

Sure - question is why there are so many cars up for so long. Do people not drop their prices in order to sell

or do they just not sell and leave them up at the higher prices? I've heard second hand prices are up a lot but I think

that's only for dealer sales - private sales even for low value cars seem to be getting harder (could be mistaken)

Everything gets sold in the end.

Sometimes you are lucky enough to be on the spot when the price reaches what you want to pay.

    All secondhand prices are up.

It's generally harder to sell more expensive cars privately because when paying higher prices people prefer the security of a guarantee.

Private sellers are being ridiculous at the moment. Thinking their car is worth a fortune because they heard on the radio that prices have increased.

On the flip side I'll give you an example that I've had looking at a new car and trading in my own this week.

Had a look on Donedeal to get a rough current market average to see what prices are like.

Dealer offered me over 2k more than even the most expensive one on DD. Go figure.

Interesting - I just got a few trade in valuations on my car

Its the top spec model the best trade in is 2400 lower than than the lowest on dd.

however there's only one in that low price range and there are many others which if i was to take

values are 1k - 2k higher. I't will be interesting to see if the low price one sells as that could be a good indication

of real price in the market (and that the other prices are aspirational)
